As of 3 Sunday afternoon, all we've seen is a lot of rain, though the wind is finally gusting a little. The frogs and toads out by the pond were at it all night, like they usually are when it's rainy. The neighbors must hate me because of that pond-- it can be a cacophony, with at least two kinds of toads, pond frogs, tree frogs, and a great big bullfrog I haven't managed to get a good picture of yet. We like it, but the guy behind us who chases harmless snakes around with a machete probably doesn't appreciate the grand cycle of nature.
Now the rain has stopped for a few minutes. Orlando was really oversold on this thing...

Hurricane Irma
According to the news we should all be dead right now (Saturday evening) but we're still here and the wife and kids are making cakes. If this is as much of a dud as last time I'm going to be pretty ticked. Of course we might lose Miami and parts of the gulf coast, but they kind of know it's coming now and then. In my 9 years down here I've never seen more than a sudden stiff wind in central Florida. Who knows, maybe it'll hit us, but I knew the weather jerks that can't give you a better answer than "50% chance of rain" on a day-to-day- basis had no idea where this thing was going a week ago.
